Curiosity leads me. I follow and write.

I’m Özge.

I studied Computer Science and Engineering at Sabancı University in Istanbul, and I recently completed my Master’s in Artificial Intelligence at Queen Mary University of London.

Earlier in my journey, I spent a semester in Sweden as an Erasmus student at Umeå University and later crossed 14 European countries by train with nothing more than a hard-shell backpack, while still experiencing different cultures and lifestyles.

My academic background is rooted in machine learning and statistical methods. I have worked on projects ranging from renewable energy forecasting to natural language processing and attention-based dialogue models. What interests me most is approaching complex problems with clarity and curiosity, combining analytical precision with creative reasoning to uncover patterns that are not immediately visible.

I'm interested in the ethical aspects of technology and the philosophical questions behind science and intelligence. I have been drawn to ideas that question not only what we can build but also why we build it. Science is not only progress but also responsibility. My work is as much about thinking as it is about building.

But work is not everything.

I also enjoy playing tennis. Tennis keeps me focused, competitive, and balanced outside of research.

I see beauty in objects made with care and intention, whether it’s the precise mechanics of a watch, the graceful lines of a vintage automobile, or the smooth flow of a fountain pen.

A mechanical watch is more than a way to keep time; it brings together mathematics, physics, astronomy, and engineering as a form of art. A classic automobile carries the same precision, where design and mechanics meet through human craft.

Writing is another passion of mine. I believe it is almost impossible to write well with a bad pen. A fountain pen, with its balance of flow and form, offers not just comfort but a more refined, expressive way of putting thoughts onto paper.

And then there is food. Cooking and eating are some of the simplest yet greatest joys for me. It is fulfilling on my own, and with loved ones it becomes a wonderful memory filled with laughter and conversation.

Alongside these personal passions, my academic journey is an equally important part of who I am. For a detailed overview of my work and projects, you can find my CV below.
